Deng Xiaoping fue un estadista, revolucionario y teórico político chino que se desempeñó como líder supremo de la República Popular de China (PRC) de 1978 a 1989. Surgiendo como la figura más influyente de China después de la muerte de Mao Zedong en 1976, Deng consolidó el poder político y guió al país hacia una era de reforma y apertura que hizo la transición de la nación hacia una economía de mercado socialista. Acreditado como el "arquitecto de la China moderna", es reconocido por dar forma tanto al socialismo con características chinas como a la Teoría de Deng Xiaoping.
