Dogma, en su sentido más amplio, es cualquier creencia mantenida sin cuestionamientos y con certeza indefendible. Puede estar en la forma de un sistema oficial de principios o doctrinas de una religión, como Judaism, Roman Catholicism, o Protestantism, así como las posiciones de un filósofo o de una escuela filosófica, como Stoicism. También puede encontrarse en sistemas de creencias políticas como fascism, progressivism, liberalism y conservatism. En el sentido peyorativo, dogma se refiere a decisiones forzadas, como las de intereses políticos agresivos o autoridades. De manera más general, se aplica a alguna creencia fuerte que sus adherentes no están dispuestos a discutir racionalmente. Esta actitud se denomina dogmática, o dogmatismo, y a menudo se usa para referirse a asuntos relacionados con la religión.
