One Thousand and One Nights is a collection of folktales from the Middle East compiled in the Arabic language during the Islamic Golden Age. It is often known in English as The Arabian Nights. It consists of stories within a story; the frame story is "The Story of King Shahryar of Persia and His Brother", in which Scheherazade tells tales to her husband Shahryar.
