Duplicidade é o erro cometido quando a acusação (conhecida como contagem) em uma denúncia descreve dois delitos diferentes. Uma denúncia pode conter mais de uma contagem, mas cada contagem deve alegar apenas um delito, para que o réu (e o júri) possam saber precisamente de quais delitos ele ou ela é acusado. Se uma contagem for mal redigida de modo que alegue dois delitos, diz-se que ela é "duplicativa". Uma contagem duplicativa é defeituosa e deve ser anulada pelo juiz, a menos que o juiz permita que a contagem seja alterada para que alegue apenas um delito, ou seja dividida em duas contagens. Se uma contagem duplicativa não for notada até depois de o réu ter sido condenado por ela, o veredito pode ser nulo. Duplicidade é uma situação completamente diferente daquela em que duas contagens diferentes alegam o mesmo delito, que é conhecida como multiplicidade, mas às vezes erroneamente referida como duplicidade.
