Eric Eustace Williams fue un político trinitense, a quien se ha apodado el "Padre de la Nación" por haber llevado a la entonces colonia británica de Trinidad y Tobago al gobierno de mayoría el 28 de octubre de 1956, a la independencia el 31 de agosto de 1962, y al estatus de república el 1 de agosto de 1976, liderando una cadena ininterrumpida de victorias en elecciones generales con su partido político, el People's National Movement, hasta su muerte en 1981. Representó a Port of Spain South en el Parlamento de Trinidad y Tobago.
