Fox es un código de brevedad utilizado por los pilotos de la OTAN para señalar la liberación simulada o real de una munición aire-aire u otra función de combate. Los elementos de aviación del ejército pueden usar una nomenclatura diferente, ya que la naturaleza de las armas disparadas desde helicópteros es casi siempre aire-superficie. "Fox" es la abreviatura de "foxtrot", la designación fonética de la OTAN para la letra "F", que es la abreviatura de "fire". Un piloto de caza que anuncia que se ha disparado un arma tiene la intención de ayudar a evitar el fuego amigo, alertando a otros pilotos para que eviten maniobrar hacia la trayectoria de la munición.
