George Ansel Sterling Ryerson was an Ontario physician, businessman, soldier, politician, and author. He represented Toronto in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 1893 to 1898 as a Conservative and then Conservative-Protestant Protective Association member. He founded the Association of Medical Officers of the Canadian Militia, the St. John Ambulance Association, and the United Empire Loyalist Association of Ontario. He was a founder of the Canadian Red Cross Society.
