Gloria Méndez Ramos (19 April 1919 – 13 April 1983), known professionally as Gloria Marín, was a Mexican actress. She was considered a celebrated female star of the Golden Age of Mexican cinema.
During her career, Marín appeared in about 100 films and television series. She received an Ariel Award nomination for her leading performance in the 1948 film Si Adelita se fuera con otro.

Biography
Gloria Méndez Ramos was the daughter of ballet dancer María Laura Ramos Luna (who performed under the stage name Laura Marín) and businessman Pedro Méndez Armendáriz, making her a first cousin of actor Pedro Armendáriz. She began her career at age six, performing in musical comedies and plays within a traveling theater company managed by her mother. She later worked in the traditional Mayab and caravan circuits of Santa María la Ribera, where comedian Joaquín Pardavé noticed her and helped secure her first cinematic screen test.
Marín debuted as a leading actress in Los millones de Chaflán (1938). At age 15, she briefly married customs official Arturo Vargas. She maintained a highly active shooting schedule, appearing in 19 feature film productions between 1938 and 1941, including a prominent co-starring role alongside Cantinflas in the hit comedy El gendarme desconocido (1941).
In 1941, she met Jorge Negrete during the filming of ¡Ay, Jalisco, no te rajes!. Despite an initially tense first meeting over Negrete's tardiness, a strong chemistry developed between the co-stars. Following Negrete's return from a singing engagement in New York, the two began a highly publicized, decade-long romantic relationship. They lived together in common-law union for eleven years, adopting a daughter named Gloria Virginia in 1951, before announcing their irreversible separation to the press in 1952. Over the course of their relationship, the couple co-starred as a romantic duo in 11 films.
A professional rivalry between Marín and María Félix sparked in 1942, when Félix beat out Marín for the leading female role opposite Negrete in El Peñón de las Ánimas. For her performance alongside Negrete in the film Si Adelita se fuera con otro (1948), Marín earned her first Ariel Award nomination for Best Actress. She expanded her dramatic repertoire during the 1940s, appearing with Fernando Soler in ¡Qué hombre tan simpático! (1943) and opposite Arturo de Córdova in standard dramas like El conde de Montecristo (1942) and Crepúsculo (1945). On May 31, 1958, she married actor Abel Salazar in Mexico City, though the marriage dissolved in divorce two years later.
Marín adapted to changing age demographics in the post-Golden Age era, transitioning into television as an early pioneer of the Mexican telenovela format. She won two Diosas de Plata Awards for Best Supporting Actress for her performances in Mecánica nacional (1972) and Presagio (1974). Over a thirty-year television career, she starred in prominent serialized productions such as La hiena, Los hermanos Coraje, and La maldición de la blonda. She remained active in theater, performing in stage plays like Debiera haber obispas, Tan cerca del cielo, and La jaula de cristal. Her final landmark television role was as the Mother Superior in the long-running children's telenovela Mundo de juguete (1974–1977).
Death
Marín died at the Hospital Español in Mexico City on 13 April 1983, six days before her 64th birthday, because of emphysema. She was interred at Panteón Jardín.
