Health Canada suspends Winnipeg Grifols plasma clinic
Health Canada suspended plasma collection at Grifols’ Taylor Avenue clinic in Winnipeg, citing failures to implement corrective actions and maintain an effective quality management system; the company had already paused collections at its Canadian centres. About Health Canada
Health Canada is the department of the Government of Canada responsible for national health policy. The department itself is also responsible for numerous federal health-related agencies, including the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC), among others. Since 2012, the CFIA has operated as a separate agency but continues to report to the Minister of Health for food safety matters. These organizations help to ensure compliance with federal law in a variety of healthcare, agricultural, and pharmaceutical activities.
