Lieutenant Colonel James Wemyss was a British Army officer who served during the American Revolutionary War, best known for his command of the Queen's Rangers and the 63rd Regiment of Foot. He was known for his brutality and aggression in warfare, often being compared to Banastre Tarleton, and has been called, "The 2nd Most Hated British Officer", next to Tarleton. He is also well known for his wounding and capture at the Battle of Fishdam Ford in 1780.
