James Steven Strickland Jr. is an American attorney and politician who served as the 64th mayor of Memphis, Tennessee between 2016 and 2024. A member of the Democratic Party, he previously served as a member of the Memphis City Council. Strickland is also the dean of the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law.
