Join the roomEl capitán John Deane fue un marinero inglés con una larga carrera en la Marina Real y la Armada Rusa. Ascendió al rango de capitán en la Marina Real, participando en la Captura de Gibraltar. Deane posteriormente comandó un buque mercante, el Nottingham Galley, naufragado en la Isla Boon en 1710. Deane pasó de 1714 a 1721 al servicio del zar Pedro el Grande comandando un buque naval ruso. Luego trabajó en Flandes como Cónsul británico en el Puerto de Ostende hasta 1736, cuando se retiró a su natal Wilford, Nottingham. Murió en 1761 a causa de lesiones en un asalto violento. Su esposa murió al día siguiente.
