John Dobson fue un arquitecto neoclásico inglés del siglo XIX. Durante su vida, fue el arquitecto más destacado en el norte de Inglaterra. Diseñó más de 50 iglesias y 100 casas privadas, pero es mejor conocido por diseñar Newcastle railway station y su trabajo con Richard Grainger desarrollando el centro neoclásico de Newcastle. Otras estructuras notables incluyen Nunnykirk Hall, Meldon Park, Mitford Hall, Lilburn Tower, St John the Baptist Church en Otterburn, Northumberland, y Beaufront Castle.
