John Ennis es un poeta irlandés nacido en Westmeath en 1944.
Vida
Se retiró como director de la Escuela de Humanidades del Instituto Tecnológico de Waterford en 2009 y ahora divide su tiempo entre Waterford y Westmeath. Es egresado de la University College Cork y la University College Dublin. Ganó el Premio de Poesía Patrick Kavanagh en 1975, el Listowel Open Poetry Competition once veces y el Irish American Cultural Institute Award en 1996. Ha sido editor de Poetry Ireland Review y formó parte de la junta directiva de Poetry Ireland durante once años. De 2003 a 2007, coeditó tres antologías de poesía canadiense-irlandesa. En 2008, la Memorial University le otorgó un Doctorado Honorario en Derecho por fomentar los vínculos entre Irlanda y Newfoundland, y por su poesía. En los años 90, Seamus Heaney lo eligió como el poeta irlandés más injustamente olvidado.
