É excluído do cânon hebraico e atribuído pelos protestantes à apocrypha. Conta sobre uma viúva judia, Judith, que usa sua beleza e charme para matar um general assírio que sitiou sua cidade, Bethulia. Com esse ato, ela salva Jerusalém próxima da destruição total. O nome Judith, significando "praised" ou "Jewess", é a forma feminina de Judah.
