Karma is an ancient Indian concept that refers to an action, work, or deed, and its effect or consequences. In Indian religions, the term more specifically refers to a principle of cause and effect, often descriptively called the principle of karma, wherein individuals' intent and actions (cause) influence their future (effect): Good intent and good deeds contribute to good karma and happier rebirths, while bad intent and bad deeds contribute to bad karma and worse rebirths. In some scriptures, however, there is no link between rebirth and karma.
“It is the latter, the metaphysical personations of the “ deeds” of man, whether good or bad, which, after the death of his (physical) body, incarnate themselves, so to say, and form their many invisible but never-dying compounds into a new body, or rather into an ethereal being, the double of what man was morally. p. 287”
“Thus the disembodied Ego (Soul), through this sole undying desire in him, unconsciously furnishes the conditions of his successive self procreations in various forms, which depend on his mental state and Karma, the good or bad deeds of his preceding existence, commonly called merit and demerit. p. 320”
“The world is transitory. You will achieve stability only on the path of karma yoga. Only action can take a man to God and give him liberation. The law of karma is so deep that no words are great enough to describe it. The day karma stops on this earth will be the day of its dissolution (pralaya).”
“Karma Yoga is also beneficial for your health; you will sleep well and have a good appetite. A man with good appetite and sound sleep is always a healthy man and with good health he can achieve anything in life.”
“Men gather the clouds, and then they complain of the tempests that follow.”
“The inflexibility of karma is more than poor mortal can endure.”
