Lidiya Yakovlevna Ginzburg was a Soviet literary critic, historian, writer of the Russian Formalist school, and survivor of the siege of Leningrad. She is best known among English-reading audiences for her Blockade Diary, written during and after the Siege of Leningrad. Ginzburg died at the age of 88 from a heart attack proceeded by a stroke. She is buried in a cemetery in Komarovo.
