MIT received an overall Medium Risk rating largely because of high-risk scores in employment protection, advocacy bias, and funding, reflecting a pattern of race- and identity-based policies and activism-driven initiatives. While its cancellations, discriminatory philanthropy, and political action practices were rated lower risk, the combination of governance choices that prioritize partisan causes over merit and free expression pulled its overall score into the medium range.
