Resumen
Michael John Cooper (1930 – 31 March 2018) fue un historiador estadounidense. Brevemente jesuita él mismo, Cooper escribió extensamente sobre los encuentros de los siglos XV y XVI entre los misioneros jesuitas y Japón. Fue editor de la revista Monumenta Nipponica en Tokio durante 26 años (1971–1996) y también fue anteriormente presidente de la Asiatic Society of Japan.
