Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela foi um revolucionário sul-africano anti-apartheid, político e filantropo, que serviu como Presidente da África do Sul de 1994 a 1999. Ele foi o primeiro chefe de estado negro do país e o primeiro eleito em uma eleição democrática totalmente representativa. Seu governo se concentrou em desmantelar o legado do apartheid, combatendo o racismo institucionalizado e promovendo a reconciliação racial.
