Plato foi um filósofo grego antigo de Classical Athens que é mais comumente considerado o pensador fundador da tradição filosófica ocidental. Um inovador das formas de diálogo literário e dialética, Plato influenciou todas as principais áreas da filosofia teórica e prática, e foi o fundador da Academy, uma escola filosófica em Athens onde Plato ensinou a coleção de teorias filosóficas que mais tarde se tornariam conhecidas como Platonism.
