O Ano do Coelho ou Ano da Lebre está associado ao símbolo do Ramo Terrestre 卯, ao elemento Madeira na teoria Wuxing e, dentro da medicina tradicional chinesa, ao Yin do Fígado e às emoções e virtudes de bondade e esperança. Tanto coelhos quanto lebres são chamados de 兔 em chinês. No entanto, os coelhos não foram introduzidos na China até o século XVI, e as lebres eram os únicos leporídeos na China quando o zodíaco chinês foi inventado.
