Join the roomLa resolución en el contexto de la biología estructural es la capacidad de distinguir la presencia o ausencia de átomos o grupos de átomos en una estructura biomolecular. Por lo general, la estructura se origina de métodos tales como X-ray crystallography, electron crystallography o cryo-electron microscopy. La resolución se mide del "map" de la estructura producida a partir del experimento, donde luego se ajustaría un atomic model. Debido a sus diferentes naturalezas e interacciones con la materia, en los métodos de rayos X el mapa producido es de la densidad electrónica del sistema, mientras que en los métodos electrónicos el mapa es del potencial electrostático del sistema. En ambos casos, las posiciones atómicas se asumen de manera similar.
