Una regla es un instrumento utilizado para realizar mediciones de longitud, mediante el cual se lee una longitud a partir de una serie de marcas llamadas "rules" a lo largo de un borde del dispositivo. Alternativamente, se llama regla, escala, calibrador de líneas o metro. Por lo general, el instrumento es rígido y el borde en sí es una regla de bordes rectos, lo que además permite dibujar líneas más rectas. Las reglas son una herramienta importante en geometría, geografía y matemáticas. Han sido utilizadas desde al menos el 2650 a. C.
