Tesla é uma banda de hard rock americana de Sacramento, Califórnia. No final de 1981, o baixista Brian Wheat e o guitarrista Frank Hannon formaram uma banda chamada City Kidd, que evoluiu para Tesla. Em 1984, o vocalista Jeff Keith, o guitarrista Tommy Skeoch e o baterista Troy Luccketta se juntaram à banda, formando sua formação clássica que apareceu em todos os álbuns e shows ao vivo durante sua fase inicial.
