Ele é mais conhecido pelos filmes The Celebration (1998), Submarino (2010), The Hunt (2012), Far from the Madding Crowd (2015) e Another Round (2020). Por Another Round ele foi indicado ao Academy Award for Best Director, o primeiro cineasta dinamarquês indicado na categoria de Melhor Diretor.
