Plot

Paloma (Rosita Quintana) and Pablo (Miguel Aceves Mejía) are impoverished musicians who perform on the street and in local restaurants alongside their godfather (Joaquín Pardavé) to earn tips. During one of their performances, a wealthy theater impresario named Emilio speaks over Paloma's singing. Insulted by his lack of respect, Paloma indignantly returns his money but accepts his business card. Driven by professional ambition, she later decides to visit Emilio at his theater to explore a career as a professional singer, heavily defying Pablo's objections.

Emilio recognizes Paloma's talent and offers her an official contract, a decision that quickly catapults her to stardom but fuels intense feelings of romantic jealousy in Pablo. The strain of her newfound fame and a series of complications keep the two lovers separated and constantly feuding. Realizing she is expecting a child with Pablo, Paloma remains deeply in love with him, but the relationship fractures further. Sensing her vulnerability, Emilio proposes marriage to Paloma despite knowing about her situation. Tragically, Paloma suffers a medical complication and loses the baby. After a prolonged period of heartache, mutual misunderstandings, and ultimate moral rectifications, Pablo and Paloma manage to reconcile in the final scene, leaving the feuds behind to reunite their musical and romantic partnership.
