About Tomato
The Tomato Music Co. Ltd., também conhecida como Tomato Records, é uma gravadora independente americana fundada em New York City em 1977 pelo gerente musical Kevin Eggers. Foi sucessora de suas gravadoras anteriores Utopia e Poppy, a gravadora era autodistribuída e lançou álbuns de artistas influentes como Townes Van Zandt, Lightnin' Hopkins, Lead Belly, Chris Smither, Dave Brubeck, Nina Simone, Annette Peacock, Harry Partch, John Cage, Philip Glass, Merle Haggard e Albert King. A Rhino Records cuidou da distribuição do catálogo da Tomato Records nos anos 1990, antes de a gravadora fechar. Foi revivida em 2002.
