Um guarda-chuva é uma cobertura dobrável suportada por varetas de madeira ou metal que é montada em uma haste de madeira, metal ou plástico. Geralmente é projetado para proteger uma pessoa contra o sol ou a chuva. Inicialmente, eram usados em países mais quentes para sombra do sol, mas depois evoluíram para também serem usados para proteção contra a chuva. Etimologicamente, o termo guarda-chuva deve ser usado quando se protege do sol, mas também é comumente usado quando se protege da chuva.
