O inverno é a estação mais fria e escura do ano em climas temperados e polares. Ela ocorre após o outono e antes da primavera, quando o hemisfério está orientado para longe do Sol como resultado da inclinação do eixo da Terra. Diferentes culturas definem datas diferentes como o início do inverno, e algumas usam uma definição baseada no tempo.
