Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) is facing pressure to drop out of the presidential race following former Vice President Joe Biden’s primary sweep on Tuesday.

As the election results came in, Biden widened the gap sweeping all three states up for grabs.

Democrats began sharing their opinion of the primary while urging Sanders to drop out of the race.

Former Rep. Bakari Sellers (D-S.C.) — who previously endorsed Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) — took to Twitter to reflect on the Democratic primary results.

He shared his opinion, saying that Sanders should drop out in order to maintain focus on the common goal — “beating Trump.”

“After tonight, With no path to secure the nomination, [Bernie Sanders] should drop out,” he tweeted. “We should proceed to the mission at hand, beating Trump. We don’t have time to waste.”

Getting beat by 10pts+ (I’m being generous) and getting swept isn’t a path to winning anything.

Washington Post columnist Karen Tumulty also echoed similar sentiments. She tweeted thanking the Vermont senator for his service while saying that she believes it is time to suspend his campaign.

“Dear [BernieSanders] thank you for your service,” Tumulty wrote. “With all respect to what you achieved: Now is the time to drop out.”

Additionally, political commentator Bill O’Reilly also chimed in to criticize Sanders.

He tweeted on Wednesday morning, “So Bernie Sanders gets embarrassed last night and has to drop out of the race because he has no chance of winning the Democratic nomination. Right? Bernie? Are you with me?”

The latest reactions follow Tuesday night’s election results and a brief remark from Sanders.

During a live-streamed speech, Sanders didn’t address the concerns about his campaign or the people urging him to drop out. Instead, he focused on the coronavirus outbreak and his intent to stay involved and proactive in helping the American people.

“I look forward to continuing to communicate with you to tell you where we are coming from, what our ideas are, and look forward to hearing from you,” Sanders said.

Despite Sanders’ statement, many Democrats are waiting to see if he opts to release a statement about the future of his campaign. However, on Wednesday morning, Sanders’ campaign manager said in a statement in part, “Sen. Sanders is going to be having conversations with his supporters to assess his campaign.”
