Several lawmakers have been tested for the coronavirus, but PresidentĀ Donald Trump is reacting to one Congressmember’s test result.

Sen. Mitt Romney’s (R-Utah) test result for the coronavirus came back negative and Trump took to Twitter to respond.

“This is really great news! I am so happy I can barely speak. He may have been a terrible presidential candidate and an even worse U.S. Senator, but he is a RINO, and I like him a lot!” Trump tweeted.

Romney also released a statement regarding his negative test result.

“Thankfully I’ve tested negative for COVID-19. Nevertheless, guidance from my physician, consistent with the CDC guidelines, requires me to remain in quarantine as the test does not rule out the onset of symptoms during the 14-day period,” Romney tweeted.

Trump’s response comes days after he reacted to Romney’s decision to self-quarantine, as IJR previously reported.

“Romney’s in isolation?ā€ Trump said during a press briefing, adding, ā€œGee, that’s too bad.ā€

When asked if there was sarcasm in his reaction, Trump said no.

Romney and Trump have a history of not necessarily agreeing with one another. During Trump’s impeachment trial, Romney voted for an article of impeachment. Trump had something to say about that, as IJR previously reported.

Trump made a comment about Romney during a White House event on Feb. 8, “How’s Mitt Romney? You keep him. We don’t want him.”

Romney and Trump have recently seemed to agree on at least one thing, sending financial assistance to Americans during the coronavirus crisis, as IJR reported.

While Trump considered sending checks to Americans, Romney reinforced that idea by proposing to send a one-time check to each American of $1,000.

The coronavirus continues to spread across the nation, causing damage to the economy. Total cases have reached over 438,000 across the globe, as of Wednesday morning.
