Former Vice President Joe Biden is now the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee.

And many believe he has to win over supporters of Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) if he wants to win in the general election in November.

During an interview on ABC News’ “This Week,” Sanders said he believes many of his voters will ultimately decide to vote for Biden in a bid to defeat President Donald Trump.

“Look, I think at the end of the day, the vast majority of the people who voted for me, who supported me will understand and do understand that Donald Trump is the most dangerous president in the modern history of this country,” Sanders said.

He continued, “He’s a pathological liar, he’s a racist and a sexist, a homophobe, etcetera. And I think, at the end of the day, they will be voting for Joe Biden.”

Sanders said he believes that Biden must show that he understands the policy concerns held by supporters of the Vermont senator and that he will try to address those concerns in his platform.

“I think that Joe and his staff understand that, I think they are going to reach to our supporters come up with an agenda that speaks to the needs of working families, of young families, of minority communities,” he added.

Sanders suspended his presidential bid in April and endorsed Biden for president. Now the former vice president must win over voters who may have concerns that the process was “rigged” and that their preferred candidate was robbed of the nomination.

Throughout the primary, Trump tried to stir up accusations that the primary was rigged, apparently in the hopes of winning over disenfranchised Sanders supporters.

In 2016, a reported 12% of Sanders wound up voting for Trump over Hillary Clinton.
