Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan (R), a previous critic of President Donald Trump, announced he is launching a virtual book tour for his new memoir and, along with that, a possible presidential run in 2024.

Hogan sat down with The New York Times to give an exclusive interview about his upcoming book titled “Still Standing: Surviving Cancer, Riots, a Global Pandemic, and the Toxic Politics that Divide America,” along with what Americans will be looking for following this upcoming election.

“After this November election is over, regardless of who wins, there are a large majority of Americans who are completely convinced our political system is fundamentally broken, and they’re going to be looking for something different,” Hogan said.

Hogan also believes he has been leading the charge among governors amid the coronavirus pandemic.

“We have an election coming up — we’ll see what happens there — but I’ve been leading the nation’s governors through one of the biggest crises in our lifetime,” Hogan reiterated.

Hogan previously criticized Trump for his response to the coronavirus crisis.

In March, Hogan argued the messaging coming from the White House was mixed.

CNN’s John Berman noted the difference between Trump’s suggestion to relax social distancing guidelines and Hogan’s decision to close all nonessential businesses. He asked Hogan how those things matched.

“Well, they don’t really match. Quite frankly, some of the messaging is pretty confusing and I think it’s not just it doesn’t match with what we’re doing here in Maryland,” Hogan said.

He added, “Some of the messaging coming out of the administration doesn’t match.”

Trump also criticized Hogan in April as he claimed Hogan did not understand there was a list of labs provided to each governor for additional testing capacity.

“Some of the governors… as an example, the governor from Maryland didn’t really understand the list. He didn’t understand too much about what was going on. Now I think he’ll be able to do that, it’s pretty simple,” Trump said.

Hogan also told the Times he is not interested in a run for the U.S. Senate in 2022.

He will hold his virtual book tour from July 29 to August 11.
