House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) is taking a swipe at President Donald Trump for his behavior during his rally in Michigan on Saturday.

ABC’s George Stephanopoulos noted Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s (D) reaction to Trump supporters chanting “lock her up” after he criticized her for her COVID-19 policies.

“This is exactly the rhetoric that has put me, my family, and other government officials’ lives in danger while we try to save the lives of our fellow Americans. It needs to stop,” Whitmer said.

During an appearance on ABC’s “The View” on Tuesday, Whitmer defended her COVID-19 policies and said, she “wouldn’t change a thing.”

Pelosi told Stephanopoulos Trump fails to understand how the weight his words carry and the only way to stop him is to head to the ballot box.

“The president has to realize that the words of the president of the United States weigh a ton and in our political dialogue, to inject fear tactics into it, especially a woman governor and her family, is so irresponsible,” Pelosi said.

She added, “In all fairness to people who listen to him, people think the president is important and what he says should be adhered to, and so we have this horrible situation, but the people have awakened to him. Twenty-six million people already voting. The biggest antidote to his poison is the vote.”

Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden also lambasted the president for failing to denounce the militia groups involved in a plot to kidnap Whitmer, as IJR previously reported.

“To kidnap an elected leader and now we’re finding out the same thing was happening in Virginia. You know it’s the sort of behavior you might expect from ISIS and it should shock the conscience of every American. And the failure to condemn these folks is stunning,” Biden said.
