Senate Chaplain Barry Black acknowledged Joe Biden as the president-elect during his opening prayer.

“Lord, we respect the conclusions of the Electoral College and ask you to bless President-elect Joseph Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris,” Black said Tuesday.

Watch his full prayer below:

The Electoral College affirmed Biden’s victory on Monday, as IJR previously reported.

The former vice president clinched 306 electoral votes while President Donald Trump garnered 232 electoral votes.

During his speech in Wilmington, Del., Monday, Biden noted he received the same number of electoral votes as Trump did in 2016, as IJR previously reported.

“Three-hundred and six electoral votes is the same number of electoral votes that Donald Trump and Vice President Pence received when they won in 2016. At the time, Trump called the Electoral College tally a landslide,” Biden said.

He added, “By his own standards, these numbers represented a clear victory then and I respectfully suggest they do so now.”

Several Republicans have refused to admit Biden won the election.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell decided to recognize Biden’s victory Tuesday.

“Yesterday electors met in all 50 states. So, as of this morning, our country has officially a president-elect and a vice president-elect,” he said.

McConnell continued, “Many millions of us had hoped the presidential election would yield a different result. But our system of government has processes to determine who will be sworn in on January the 20th. The electoral college has spoken.”

He went on to congratulate Biden and Harris.

Trump continues to falsely claim widespread voter fraud is the cause of his defeat.

During a Fox News interview on Saturday, Trump reassured his supporters “it’s not over.”

His comments came just one day after the Supreme Court rejected a Texas lawsuit seeking to throw out election results in Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.
