President-elect Joe Biden and his wife, Dr. Jill Biden, are praising health care workers for their dedication to keeping Americans healthy amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

“They did so much, they risked their lives. They’ve done so much for us, and we owe them, we owe them, we owe them,” the former vice president said during an interview on Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve special.

Dr. Jill Biden recognized the sacrifice frontline workers had to make by leaving their families to help Americans.

Ryan Seacrest acknowledged they both received the vaccine and asked them what their message is to the nation about taking it.

“You have to take it and it doesn’t hurt, I promise,” Dr. Jill Biden joked.

Joe Biden explained why he is hopeful Americans can overcome these challenges.

“I’m more optimistic about America’s chances than I’ve ever been and I’ve been around this for a while. We have the most productive workers in the world. We’ve now found vaccines that are available and they’re going to work. We… have to get a better way to getting more out there quicker,” Joe Biden said.

He continued, “I find that we’re in a situation where we once again have to step up and lead the world and lead the nation.”

Joe Biden is adamant the nation can move forward and do what it takes to beat the coronavirus.

“There’s never been a single thing America’s been unable to overcome,” he added.

The president-elect went on, “No matter how drastic it’s been when we’ve done it together. Never, never, never. America can do anything and I’m absolutely, positively confident, confident, that we’re going to come back and come back even stronger than before.”

Joe Biden also called on Americans on Twitter on Thursday to “unite, heal, and rebuild in 2021,” as IJR previously reported.
