Rev. Raphael Warnock intends to keep preaching at his church while he governs the citizens of Georgia.

CNN’s John Berman mentioned the “interesting” Sunday plans Warnock has ahead even though he will be a senator.

He asked Warnock what his plans are.

“I intend to return to my pulpit and preach on Sunday mornings and to talk to the people,” Warnock said.

He added, “Listen one of the things that I’ve learned from being a pastor is that it’s really the people who teach you how to be a good pastor, an effective pastor, and I think it’s the people who teach you how to be an effective senator.”

Warnock is making it his mission to communicate with Americans.

“The last thing I want to do is become disconnected from the community and just spend all of my time talking to the politicians,” he said.

Warnock continued, “I might accidentally become one and I have no intentions of becoming a politician. I intend to be a public servant.”

Berman joked, “It might be too late for that, a little bit… You are the senator-elect from the state of Georgia, so by definition… you are a politician.”

Warnock defeated Republican incumbent Kelly Loeffler, as IJR previously reported.

He will become the first Black senator in the history of Georgia.

The state’s other Senate race between Jon Ossoff and incumbent David Perdue remains too close to call.

“I congratulate Reverend Warnock on his groundbreaking win last night and I am hopeful that when the count is complete, Jon Ossoff will also be victorious,” President-elect Joe Biden said in a statement.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) also congratulated Warnock and Ossoff in a statement — though Ossoff’s race is too close to call.

“Congratulations to Reverend Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff on their historic victories. And to every grassroots organization and volunteer: this win was carried by you. We all join you in taking pride in what you have accomplished,” she wrote.
