Former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley is speaking out following violent protests that broke out in the nation’s capital this week, while torching President Donald Trump for his behavior.

Haley spoke at a Republican National Committee dinner on Thursday in Florida, where she took aim at Trump over the protests that broke out at the U.S. Capitol.

“President Trump has not always chosen the right words. He was wrong with his words in Charlottesville, and I told him so at the time,” she said, according to Fox News.

Haley continued, “He was badly wrong with his words yesterday. And it wasn’t just his words. His actions since Election Day will be judged harshly by history.”

Calling it “deeply disappointing,” the former U.N. ambassador added, “It’s a real shame, because I am one who believes our country made some truly extraordinary gains in the last four years.”

“President Trump and Republicans deserve great credit for that,” Haley said. “We should not shy away from our accomplishments.”

When members from the House of Representatives and Senate met on Wednesday to certify the electoral votes, Trump supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol, resulting in a lockdown and at least five people died.

Trump has since said that he is “outraged by the violence, lawlessness, and mayhem,” in a video message posted to Twitter on Thursday evening.

“We have just been through an intense election and emotions are high, but now tempers must be cooled and calm restored,” the president said.

He then acknowledged “a new administration will be inaugurated on Jan. 20” and noted that his focus “now turns to ensuring a smooth, orderly and seamless transition of power.”

“This moment calls for healing and reconciliation,” Trump said.

Trump is being faced with growing calls from Democrats and some Republicans to be removed from office by invoking the 25th Amendment.
