Former President Donald Trump is not yet saying whether he plans to make a bid for the White House in 2024, but he says he will be making a “certain announcement” that will make people “very happy.”

During a portion of an episode of The Daily Wire’s “Candace,” set to air on Tuesday night which was released earlier in the day, host Candace Owens asked Trump if he plans to run for president in 2024.

“The answer is I’m absolutely enthused. I look forward to doing an announcement at the right time,” Trump responded. “As you know, it’s very early, but I think people are going to be very, very happy … when I make a certain announcement.”

He continued, “For campaign finance reasons, you really can’t do it too early because it becomes a whole different thing. Otherwise, I’d give you an answer that I think you’d be very happy with.”

Finally, he added, “So we are looking at that very, very seriously. And uh, all I’ll say is stay tuned!”

During a speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in February, Trump claimed President Joe Biden‘s policies “should be reason enough for Democrats to suffer withering losses in the [2022] midterms and to lose the White House decisively four years from now.”

He went on to tease a potential presidential run in 2024, “But who knows, who knows, I may even decide to beat them for a third time, okay?”

A Reuters/Ipsos poll from April found that six in 10 Republican voters said they would like the former president to run in 2024.

Meanwhile, Congressional leaders appear split on whether they would support Trump if he locked up the party’s presidential nomination. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) told Fox News that he would support Trump in the general election if he was the party’s nominee.

However, Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.), the No. 3 Republican in the House, said she would not support Trump if he won the nomination. Additionally, she said he should not have a role in the party’s future.
