Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) signed a controversial voting bill into law during an appearance on “Fox & Friends.”

Fox News’s Brian Kilmeade asked DeSantis on Thursday, “What’s going to be different about Florida’s election in 2022? What are you about to sign?”

DeSantis replied, “Right now I have what we think is the strongest election integrity measures in the country. I’m actually going to sign it right here. It’s going to take effect.”

The governor went on to list the provisions of the bill, including enforcing voter ID, banning ballot harvesting, prohibiting mass mailing of ballots, increasing election transparency, and prohibiting private money from running elections.

Watch the video below:

Ballot harvesting “involves a law that allows third parties to collect and deliver ballots in some states,” as CBS News reports.

Claiming his state “put a lot of effort into last election,” DeSantis said, “We had 11 million votes counted by midnight, 99%. We think this will make it even better as we go forward, so we’re proud of the strides we’ve made, we’re not resting on our laurels.”

“Me signing this bill says: Florida, your vote counts, your vote is going to be cast with integrity and transparency and this is a great place for democracy,” DeSantis added.

Kilmeade then asked DeSantis, “Will you allow drop boxes and have you cut back hours for voting?”

DeSantis explained, “I’m not a fan of drop boxes at all … but the legislature wanted to keep them, but they need to be monitored. You can’t just leave these boxes out where there’s no supervision.”

He said drop boxes will only be available when “they’re monitored and during regular voting hours.”

Florida’s bill comes just after Georgia passed a sweeping voting bill garnering backlash from some Democrats and other activists.
