Donald Trump Jr. climbed to the top of a poll studying the most popular members of the Republican Party.
According to the poll first provided to Axios, his net favorability rating among Republican voters totaled 55%. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) came in just below Donald Trump Jr. at 54%.
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy’s (R-Calif.) favorability rating added up to 24%. Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) beat Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) with a favorability of 17% compared to her 8%.
Only 2% of Republican voters threw their support behind Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.). Last is Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.), with a negative favorability score of 43%.
The poll was conducted by Tony Fabrizio of Fabrizio, Lee & Associates and surveyed 800 Republican voters from July 6 through 8.
“We found Mitch McConnell’s image has significantly improved since February, while Kevin McCarthy’s has remained consistent but positive. Liz Cheney is incredibly unpopular, while Matt Gaetz and Marjorie Taylor Greene have positive images but are largely undefined and driven by the far right of the party,” Tony Fabrizio of Fabrizio, Lee & Associates said.
The statement continued, “Ron DeSantis and Donald Trump, Jr. are well-known and very well-liked by most Republicans, doing best among President Trump’s biggest supporters.”
DeSantis beat former President Donald Trump in a straw poll for the 2024 presidential election, as IJR reported.
Seventy-four percent of the Western Conservative Summit respondents chose DeSantis, while 71% of respondents selected Trump.
Donald Trump Jr. told the Washington Examiner, “What Ron DeSantis has done in Florida is outstanding.” The former president’s son also said DeSantis has “a very bright continuing future, whether that’s with my father, whether that’s — if my father doesn’t run — on his own.”
