Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) reacted to a letter he received from the House select committee investigating the January 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol.

On Wednesday evening, Fox News host Brian Kilmeade noted the committee might want Jordan to take questions.

He asked him, “What will your reaction be? Will it be the same as Mark Meadows, take a walk? Or would you sit down and speak to them?”

Jordan replied, “I mean, we just got the letter today, Brian. We’re gonna review the letter. But I’ve got honest with you. I got real concerns about any committee that will take a document and alter it and present it to the American people, completely mislead the American people like they did last week.”

He added, “And it turns out it looks like it wasn’t just one document they did this with. It was others, other text messages as well. So I got real concerns with that.”

Concluding the segment, Kilmeade said, “I just know this, Jim. Don’t worry about those text messages getting out. I can’t see that ever happening with this committee.”

Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.), chair of the committee, penned the letter to Jordan, mentioning a conversation he had with former President Donald Trump on January 6.

“We understand that you had at least one and possibly multiple communications with President Trump on January 6th. We would like to discuss each such communication with you in detail,” Thomspon wrote.

He continued, “And we also wish to inquire about any communications you had on January 5th or 6th with those in the Willard War Room, the Trump legal team, White House personnel or others involved in organizing or planning the actions and strategies for January 6th.”

Thompson proposed meeting with Jordan on January 3 or 4.

Concluding his letter, he argued, “The American people deserve a full and accurate accounting of what happened on January 6th.”

In August, Jordan told Politico he spoke to Trump “more than once” on the day of the attack, as IJR previously reported.
