Actor James Cromwell superglued his hand to a counter at Starbucks for a protest.

CNN noted the Tuesday protest was coordinated with People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA).

The outlet mentioned Cromwell’s role as a longtime supporter of the group and “Honorary Director.”

“Starbucks claims that it wants to be more sustainable, but it discourages customers from choosing sustainable products,” Cromwell said while sitting on the counter.

He asked, “Will you stop charging more for vegan milk?”

Cromwell added, “When will you stop raking in huge profits while customers, animals, and the environment suffer?”

He continued, “Cows produce milk for the same reasons that humans do: to nourish their young. But in the dairy industry they give birth and their babies are taken from them almost immediately so that their milk can be sold.”

Police arrived at the scene and Cromwell later removed himself from the counter.

According to CNN, Starbucks charges approximately 70 cents extra for alternatives to dairy, including soy, coconut, almond and oat milks.

It is dependent on the city.

“My friends at PETA and I are calling on Starbucks to stop punishing kind and environmentally conscious customers for choosing plant milks,” Cromwell said in a press release issued by PETA.

He added, “We all have a stake in the life-and-death matter of the climate catastrophe, and Starbucks should do its part by ending its vegan upcharge.”

A Starbucks spokesperson said in a statement, “We respect our customers’ rights to respectfully voice their opinions so long as it does not disrupt our store operations.”

They also said customers “can customize any beverage on the menu with a nondairy milk, including soy, coconut, almond and oat for an additional cost (similar to other beverage customizations such as an additional espresso shot or syrup).”

The statement continues, “Pricing varies market by market.”
