Telsa CEO Elon Musk maintains that he thinks former President Donald Trump should be allowed on Twitter.

But says he would like to see a “less divisive” candidate run in 2024.

In a tweet Thursday evening, Musk wrote, “Even though I think a less divisive candidate would be better in 2024, I still think Trump should be restored to Twitter.”

Additionally, the billionaire shared a mistake he believes President Joe Biden is making about his 2020 victory.

“Biden’s mistake is that he thinks he was elected to transform the country,” he wrote.

Instead, Musk suggested, “Actually everyone just wanted less drama.”

During an event that was sponsored by the Financial Times on Tuesday, Musk was asked about Trump’s ban.

“I guess the answer is that I would reverse the perma-ban,” Musk said.

He continued, “Obviously, I don’t own Twitter yet, so this is not like a thing that will definitely happen, cause what if I don’t own Twitter?”

Early Friday morning, Musk tweeted, “Twitter deal temporarily on hold pending details supporting calculation that spam/fake accounts do indeed represent less than 5% of users.”

“Still committed to acquisition,” he clarified.

Last month, Twitter agreed to the businessman’s offer to buy the company for roughly $44 billion.

In a statement after the deal was announced, Musk  said, “Free speech is the bedrock of a functioning democracy, and Twitter is the digital town square where matters vital to the future of humanity are debated.”

He continued to specifically mention bots, “I also want to make Twitter better than ever by enhancing the product with new features, making the algorithms open source to increase trust, defeating the spam bots, and authenticating all humans. Twitter has tremendous potential – I look forward to working with the company and the community of users to unlock it.”
