Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.) invoked cocaine into a joke about high gas prices.

During an interview with Fox News’s Jesse Watters, Kennedy said, “President Biden continues to campaign for more economic chaos. Meanwhile, I don’t know about where you live, Jesse, but in my state, the price of gas is so high that it would be cheaper to buy cocaine and just run everywhere.”

ABC News reported, on Thursday, the average price of a gallon of gas across the nation exceeded $5.

AAA data showed California drivers paid an average of $6.40 per gallon.

On Sunday, ABC’s “This Week” anchor George Stephanopoulos noted President Joe Biden previously announced plans to release 1 million barrels of oil per day from the strategic petroleum reserve to provide relief for Americans at the pump.

He pointed out to Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg the move “hasn’t made any difference at all.”

When asked if it was a failure, Buttigieg replied, “I don’t think it’s correct to say it hasn’t made any difference at all.”

He added, “This is an action that helped to stabilize global oil prices.”

Buttigieg explained, “The action the president took around ethanol, introducing additional flexibility there, that’s having an effect on prices in the Midwest.”

He continued, “But we also know that the price of gasoline is not set by a dial in the Oval Office. And when an oil company is deciding, hour by hour, how much to charge you for a gallon of gas, they’re not calling the administration to ask what they should do. They’re doing it based on their goal of maximizing their profits.”

Tom Kloza, global head of energy analysis for the OPIS, told CNN the national average for gas could reach close to $6 by later in the summer.

“Come hell or high gas prices, people are going to take vacations,” Kloza said.

A poll conducted by Quinnipiac University shows 34% of Americans believe inflation was “the most urgent issue facing the country today.”

Only 33% of Americans and 35% of registered voters approved of Biden’s job he is doing as president.

Twenty-eight percent approve of his handling of the economy.
