President Joe Biden and his White House are embarking on a strategy of making him more visible as his poll numbers are mired in the low 40s.

But while the president has been making more appearances, that does not equate to more interactions with the press.

After the conclusion of an event at the White House on Monday, Biden was seen mingling with various attendees, shaking hands, and taking pictures.

However, when he neared the section where reporters were gathered and waiting to ask questions, he quickly exited the room with just a glance in their direction.

Vice President Kamala Harris was seen trailing Biden out of the room.

Perhaps this is part of a grand strategy to get some message discipline for this White House, after the attention it has received for aides walking back several of Biden’s comments.

Although, the event was not exactly the smoothest for the president.

He accidentally slipped up and referred to Asian-American human rights activist Karen Narasaki as “Karan Nagasaki,” then asked, “Where are the Karens?”

And admittedly, it is not the worst mix-up for him — in terms of how much he was off — but it’s not great either that the president frequently struggles to remember names or pronounce names correctly.

Biden can try to avoid reporters’ questions and decline to give sit-down interviews with journalists for over 100 days while making appearances on late-night shows, and that may help limit his awkward gaffes and give his poll numbers a little boost.

But eventually, there will come a point when he has to answer questions again, and the Easter Bunny or a convenient exit point won’t always be there to save him.
