Hip-hop star Kendrick Lamar voiced his anger with the Supreme Court using a crown of thorns and fake blood.

During a Glastonbury Festival appearance over the weekend, Lamar wore the crown of thorns as fake blood dripped down his face and onto his shirt.

“They judge you, they judge Christ. Godspeed for women’s rights,” Lamar chanted repeatedly.

He appeared to be referencing the court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade.

According to CNN, during his set, Lamar addressed themes of social injustice, faith, greed, loyalty and prejudice accompanied by choreographed performances of tracks including “N95” and “United in Grief” from his most recent album.

Additionally, he performed older songs including “Humble” and “Alright.”

Concluding his set, Lamar performed “Savior,” a song that comments on politics, COVID-19 and the Black Lives Matter movement, as CNN reported.

He considers it his “favorite record” off of the new album.

Vogue explained the crown is a “collaboration between the rapper, his longtime creative collaborator Dave Free and the jeweller Tiffany & Co., which has been crafting speciality headpieces since the 19th century.”

Free, who co-founded the media company pgLang with Lamar, told Vogue the meaning of the crown is “a godly representation of hood philosophies told from a digestible youthful lens.”

The jeweller said the crown is a “metaphor for artistic prowess, humility and perseverance.”

Lamar is not the only artist to take aim at the court over the weekend.

At the same festival, singer Olivia Rodrigo dedicated her “F*** you” song to the court.

“Today is a very, very special day. This is actually my first Glastonbury, and I’m sharing the stage with Lily which is the biggest dream come true ever. But I’m also equally as heartbroken over what happened in America yesterday,” Rodrigo said.

She added, “The Supreme Court decided to overturn Roe v Wade which is a law that ensures a woman’s right to a safe abortion, another basic human right.”

Rodrigo went on to tell the crowd she is “devastated and terrified and so many women and so many girls are going to die because of this and I wanted to dedicate this next song to the five members of the Supreme Court who have showed us that at the end of the day they truly don’t give a s*** about freedom.”
