Famous Hollywood director Steven Spielberg’s previous warnings about global warming are coming into question after a report revealed how much jet fuel he has burned in the past two months.
On Monday, Fox News reported that Spielberg’s plane has burned more than $116,000 worth of jet fuel since June 23, citing data tracking flights from ADS-B Exchange and compiled by the database Celebrity Jets.
The fuel was burned over the course of 16 trips reaching close to 17,000 miles, as the outlet noted.
Fox News also pointed out the number is likely lower as the data did not analyze at least three of the director’s trips.
In 2018, Spielberg expressed his concern about global warming during an interview for his film “Ready Player One.”
He explained, “I’m terrified of it. Global warming is a scientific reality. It’s not a political trick. It’s a true piece of real, measurable, quantifiable science.”
Spielberg continued, “People have to come around to believing that this is, we are going to have to have a kind of confrontation with destiny unless we do something about it today.”
In case you missed it:
The report on Spielberg comes shortly after a list of other celebrities received criticism for their emissions.
Singer Taylor Swift’s representatives responded to a report claiming that she was number one on its CO2 offenders list, as IJR reported.
The study by Yard Group claimed that Swift racked up “a total of 170 flights since January, Taylor’s jet has amassed a vast 22,923 minutes in the air – 15.9 days. Quite a large amount considering that she is not currently touring.”
It explained, “Taylor’s jet has an average flight time of just 80 minutes and an average of 139.36 miles per flight. Her total flight emissions for the year come in at 8,293.54 tonnes, or 1,184.8 times more than the average person’s total annual emissions. Taylor’s shortest recorded flight of 2022 was just 36 minutes, flying from Missouri to Nashville.”
Her representative responded, saying that Swift’s jet is “loaned out regularly to other individuals.”
The statement continued, “To attribute most or all of these trips to her is blatantly incorrect.”
Last week, Fox News also reported that actor Leonardo DiCaprio took several trips on private jets and yachts amid his fight against oil companies.
