Former NBA coach Stan Van Gundy is receiving criticism after seeming to mock Republicans over their response to President Joe Biden’s student loan forgiveness program.

Over the weekend, Van Gundy posted a biblical meme to mock Republicans, saying, “Republican logic.”

The meme says, “Jesus’s miracle of the loaves and fishes was a slap in the face to all the people who brought their own lunch.”

Twitter users were quick to teach Van Gundy a lesson about the Bible story that he was referring to.

One user tweeted, “Now we know how the woke, dopey left thinks. In their twisted minds they believe the student loan bailout is the same as being Jesus.”

The tweet continues, “Hey [Stan Van Gundy]: our Lord and Savior also didn’t force the people who did not eat to cover the cost of the meal for the 5,000 that did chow down.”

Another tweeted, “Right you imbecile. Because working class Americans paying for the graduate degrees of the middle class is EXACTLY the same as the Son of God performing a miracle.”

Love this.
1. The left thinks government is God
2. The left thinks social programs are miracles and don’t obey the laws of thermodynamics https://t.co/UGjtJoZi1V

What is it about people, who don't follow Jesus, think they can tell people who follow Jesus what Jesus is teaching? https://t.co/3SPzHViUwA

Last week, Biden unveiled his student loan forgiveness plan, as IJR reported.

According to the plan, $20,000 of debt would be forgiven for students who received Pell Grants while  $10,000 in student loan debt would be forgiven for borrowers who did not benefit from the grants.

Several Republicans spoke out against the program.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) tweeted, “Democrats’ student loan socialism is a slap in the face to working Americans who sacrificed to pay their debt or made different career choices to avoid debt. A wildly unfair redistribution of wealth toward higher-earning people.”

In response to the criticism, the White House Twitter account posted a lengthy thread on Republican lawmakers that have had loans forgiven.
